SUMMARY
Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drink menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You must also be able to work various shifts. A Food Handler's Card and Washington MAST Alcohol Server Permit must be obtained within sixty(60) days of employment if deemed necessary for your position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet Customers
- Answer questions regarding the menu and ingredients
- Prepare coffee, tea, various alcoholic and other non-alcoholic beverages.
- Serve beverages and prepare food, such as cookies, pastries and muffins
- Receive and process payments, (cash and credit)
- Keep the coffee stand clean and well stocked
- Check that brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Order products as needed
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to manager and recommend new menu ideas
- Requests identification from customers when legal age is questioned
- Understands and complies with all responsible service policies and Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board laws
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time
- Capacity to work well under pressure and as part of a team
- Previous experience in a barista role, preferred
- Previous experience serving alcohol, preferred
- Customer Service Experience preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret written materials and communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
A valid Food Handler’s Card, Washington MAST Alcohol Server Permit, and Swinomish Gaming Commission permit are required.
